Pit fired ceramic bowl. The color pattern is created by the pit firing method so the pattern comes from fire, smoke and organic burnable materials placed in the pit with the pottery. This firing method was used before and after the Viking Age and predates the use of glazing and there for dosn´t hold liquids but works well with dry materials. The pattern on each bowl is unique and random and there for they are not the same as in the photos. Handmade by the artisan Fanndís Huld Valdimarsdóttir.
Gryfjubrennd keramikskál. Litamynstrið er búið til með gryfjubrennsluaðferðinni þannig að mynstrið kemur úr eldi, reyk og lífrænum brennanlegum efnum sem sett eru í gryfjuna með keramikinu. Þessi brennsluaðferð var notuð fyrir og eftir víkingaöld fyrir notkun glerjunar og heldur því ekki vökva en virkar vel með þurrum efnum. Mynstrið á hverri skál er einstakt og tilviljunarkennt og eru þær því ekki endilega eins og á myndunum. Handgerð af listakonunni Fanndísi Huld Valdimarsdóttur.
