Pit fired ceramic with a Viking rune on a cotton necklace. The color pattern is created by the pit firing method so the pattern comes from fire, smoke and organic burnable materials placed in the pit with the pottery. This firing method was used before and after the Viking Age and predates the use of glazing and there for they can also absorb essential oils. The pattern on each necklace is unique and random and there for can look different then in the photo since they are all different. Handmade by the artisan Fanndís Huld Valdimarsdóttir.
Gryfjubrennt keramik með víkingarún á bómullar hálsmeni. Litamynstrið er búið til með gryfjubrennsluaðferðinni þannig að mynstrið kemur úr eldi, reyk og lífrænum brennanlegum efnum sem sett eru í gryfjuna með keramikinu. Þessi brennsluaðferð var notuð fyrir og eftir víkingaöld fyrir notkun glerjunar og getur því drukkið í sig ilmkjarna olíur. Mynstrið á hverju hálsmeni er einstakt og tilviljunarkennt og því ekki endilega eins og er á myndinni þar sem þau eru öll ólík. Handgerð af listakonunni Fanndísi Huld Valdimarsdóttur.
